Helene Miller Heindel, 93, of Wooster, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Smithville-Western Care Center, after a period of declining health.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30 at 11 A.M. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville with Pastor Patrick Helmuth officiating. Calling hours will be from 10-11 A.M. A private burial will be at Beech Mennonite Church in Louisville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to MCC Connections, P.O. Box 19, Kidron, OH 44636.
Helene was born November 27, 1921 in Columbiana, Ohio to Ira and Mina {Shank} Blosser. She grew up in Leetonia, Ohio and after her high school graduation she married LeRoy H. Miller of Louisville, OH in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1983. In 1997 she married George Heindel and moved to Wesley Chapel, FL. He survives in a nursing home in Florida.
Helene was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville. She was musically gifted and played the organ in each church she attended throughout her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother, well known for her cooking, cake decorating and gardening. Helene had worked for 20 years at the Credit Bureau of Canton before moving to Wooster to open a cabinet shop with her husband LeRoy Miller.
Helene will be deeply missed by children Larry (Elnor) Miller of Louisville, Jennifer Miller and Pam (Spiro) Matsos both of Wooster; grandchildren Philip (Joni) Miller, Tammy Enlow, Chris (Tory) Matsos and Lee Matsos; great-grandchildren Stephen and Jonathan Miller, Megan and Dyamond Enlow, and Theo Matsos.
Helene was preceded in death by her first husband LeRoy Miller and her sisters Polly Jennings and Sylvia Brinker.
