Herbert “Herb” Gammell, 94, of Wadsworth, died September 26, 2021, at Barberton Hospital.
Herb was born on June 25, 1927, in Monroe, MI to Everett and Fannie {Collins} Gammell.
He married his sweetheart, Delores, on August 23, 1947, in Rittman, OH.
Herb spent his early years working on a farm and then transitioned to working at Ohio Match. Most of his career was spent working as a member of the Laborers International Union Local 894 of North America. He was a lifelong member for 62 years. Herb was a member of Grace and Truth Church for 28 years in Wadsworth as well as Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church. Herb’s greatest passion was fishing, especially in Lake Erie, Lake Wapusun, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Herb will be deeply missed by his wife of 74 years; children Connie (Larry) Smith, Jim, Tim (Cathy); grandchildren Melanie (Ron), Jason (Amanda), Amanda, Tiffany (Albert), Julie (Chris), Kristin (Tyler), and Adam (Melissa)
; great-grandchildren Hunter, Austin, Alison, Zachary, Lina, Aliyah, Luke, Carter, Madison, Riley, Marissa, Tilly and Sloane; brothers Lawrence and Ronald; sisters Dorothea and Darlene.
Herb was preceded in death by sisters Penny, Doris, Barbara, Betty, Mary, Geraldine; Patricia; brothers Robert, Gerald, and Harold.
Friends may call Friday, October 1st from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gerald Gammell officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens following the service.
