Homer Walters

January 12, 1933 — March 9, 2017

Homer J. Walters, 84, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice.
He was born January 12, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska to Edward C. and Anna E. {Simchak} Walters.
Homer was proud to serve in the US Army during the Korean War era. After serving in the Army, Homer married the love of his life, Betty, on September 27, 1956, and moved from Pennsylvania to Cleveland. He worked for Alcoa as a pattern maker, then at Rubbermaid in R&D as a Model Maker and Model Shop supervisor. After he retired in 1998, he provided transportation services between Wooster and local airports for Rubbermaid.
Homer loved to give back to the community in many ways. He was a volunteer fireman, EMT, and lieutenant for Wooster Twp. Fire Dept., a Wooster Twp. Trustee, a member of the Ruritans, and he installed medical alert devices for Wooster Community Hospital. Homer was a proud member of the 555th Honors Detachment where he honored our fallen veterans.
He and Betty loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations with their family. Homer was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He was respected and loved by his family and friends. He had great advice and charm with an ability to make people feel welcome. The respect he showed for others made him an excellent role model.
Homer will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Betty {Uncapher} Walters, children Beth (Ralph) Nolletti of Hughesville, MD and Jim (Jess) Walters of Shreve; brother Edward (Peg) Walters of Middleburg Heights, and his two dogs Sugar and Frost.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Clarence Walters.
