Hugh Earl Burton, 72, of Wooster, died Thursday November 20, 2014.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Randy Moomaw and Larry Richeson officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association at 3505 Embassy Parkway, Akron, OH 44333.
Hugh was born January 19, 1942 in Lattasburg to Harley Earl and Nellie Frances {MacGunnigle} Burton.
He graduated from Northwestern High school in 1960. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965.
He married Rachel {Lowe} on September 8, 1962.
Hugh worked as a long distance truck driver for Frito Lay and Scot Industries. He was a member of the Fairhaven Church of the Brethren in Lattasburg. Hugh belonged to Antique Auto Racing Association, enjoyed many years of local dirt track racing, and working on and showing off his Model T race car.
Hugh will be deeply missed by his wife; children Jana Burton of Melburne, FL, Jill Malee Burton of Cincinnati, Todd (Kathleen) Burton of Harmony, FL; grandchildren Michael and Gabriel Burton of Harmony, FL; sister Lucy (Ron) Weir of Centerville, OH, sisters-in-law Carol Kutz, and Treva Lowe both of Dalton, and many nieces and nephews.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, and grandmother, granddaughter Rebecca Burton, grandson Mathew Burton.
