Irvin Richard

July 3, 1945 — December 16, 2020

Irvin Joel Richard, age 75, of Massillon, Ohio. Beloved husband, father, and Papa crossed into his Heavenly life with Jesus on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in Canton, Ohio.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 22, at The Wooster Seventh Day Adventist Church, (445 North Bever Street, Wooster, OH 44691) (330) 264-3117 from 11 am to 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at the church at 1 pm. Please remember to wear a mask and use safe social distancing procedures. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio officiated by Pastor Greg Grimwood. Irvin Joel Richard was born July 3, 1945 in Lodi, Ohio to Charles Irvin and Thelma Corrine (Grier) Richard. Irvin Joel Richard was a graduate of Northwestern High School (Class of 1964) where he participated in Varsity Basketball, played the drums in band and showed his love for animals as a member of the FFA. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served 3 years (1965 – 1968). He completed bootcamp at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He went on to serve in the Vietnam War from June of 1967 to July of 1968.

He married Janice Ruth Robinson on May 20, 1967, who he loved, cherished and shared many memories with. During their life together, he began his career working for Nowsco Well Service working in Ohio, Louisiana, and Ohio. They then settled in Ohio, where he retired as a truck driver for Great Lakes Cheese. He attended The Gathering Place Community Church in Brewster, Ohio.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes, The United States Marine Corp, playing cards with his friends, listening to Southern Gospel music, and watching Dr. Pol along with excavating and demolition youtube videos. His pride and joy was his 2020 white Dodge Ram pickup truck.

He will be greatly missed and remembered by his wife (Janice Richard of Massillon, Ohio) of 53 years, his daughter and son-in law (Jacqueline & Abdul Rauf) of Wooster, Ohio, his granddaughter (Aaliyah Rauf) of Wooster, Ohio, his granddaughter and grandson-in-law (Kimberly & Glenn Pitre Jr.) and great grandchildren (Tripp & Emmalynne Pitre) with a third great grandchild due in July of 2021 all of Navarre. He is also survived by his siblings, Sara (Jim) Mowrer of Wooster, Marion (Weldon) Howman of Wooster, Kenneth (Barb) Richard of Wooster, Susan (Dave) Grimwood of Wooster.

Irvin Joel Richard will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, Charles Irvin Richard and Thelma Corrine (Grier) Richard, his brother, Harold Richard of Des Moines, IA, his sister, Carol Mosier of Smithville, OH, his niece, Robin Acosta, and nephews Kevin Mosier and Kyle Mosier.
