James Berry Chandley, 87, of Howard, died Sunday, April 4, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
James was born January 10, 1934, in Wheelersburg, Ohio to Everett and Henrietta {Meyer} Chandley.
Upon graduating Wheelersburg High School in 1953, James joined the United States Navy. He served for over three and a half years during the Korean Conflict.
He married Patricia A. Ellis on October 29, 1960.
James worked for 36 years for United Refrigeration Inc, then owned and operated the Crème Corner in Sunbury for fourteen years. He was a Christian. James loved his model trains. He enjoyed designing and building train tables, magazines, and shows. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, and the outdoors. James always put his family first.
James will be deeply missed by his wife Patricia of Howard; children Cheryl (Jeff) Smith of Howard and Connie (Dean) Harter of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Everett (Jackie) Chandley of California; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and his furry grandchildren
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Monday, April 19, 2021, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel. Memorial services will follow at the funeral home where military rites will be held.
