James Rodney Crater, 75, of Wooster, passed into eternal life in the arms of the Lord Friday, January 28, 2022 after a period of declining health.
Friends may call Monday, February 7 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating, masks are requested for the safety of all who attend. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Jim was born June 6, 1946 in Wooster to G. Howard and Cora {Aikens} Crater.
He graduated from Wooster High School in 1964. Jim served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1971.
He married Charlotte Barnhart on August 22, 1971.
Jim retired from the Wooster Brush after 45 years. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. He loved his cars and attending car shows. He was a great Pontiac enthusiast! He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his vegetable garden and doing yard work.
Jim will be deeply missed by his wife; daughters Kristi (Will) Root of Nashville, Melinda (Jon) Haag of Ashland; grandchildren Kaylin, Bryce Root and Ethan, Emma Haag; brothers George (Barbara) Crater of WA, Jerry (Vivian) Crater of AZ; sister Phyllis Kudika of Wooster
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Harriett Monahan, Mary Lou Crater.
