James Porterfield, 70, of Ashland, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at University Hospital, in Cleveland.
James was born March 15, 1945 in Brownsville, PA to Porky and Viola Porterfield.
He married Doris Zahniser on May 14, 2005.
James worked on river boats shoveling coal when he was younger, for Myer`s in Ashland as a molder, he then worked as a roofer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandkids.
James will be deeply missed by his children Raymond (Brenda), James (Debbie) both of Ashland, Brenda (Terry) Hysong of Mansfield, Viola, Ricky (Karen), Joy Porterfield all of Ashland; grandchildren Sally, Christal, Tim, Colton, James, Isiah, Bryan, Cody, Mikey, Sarah, Travis, Allison, Kyle, Mandy, Jason and Amy; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Leroy Moon of IN; sisters Betty Rumble of PA, Viola Porterfield of PA, Lancaster
James was preceded in death by his wife Doris.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Julie Phoms officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.
