James Rhodes

James R. Rhodes, 69, of Newport, died Friday, October 11, 2019 at his home.

James was born July 15, 1950 in Youngstown, Ohio to James S. and Mary Lou {Lanterman} Rhodes.

James was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam.

He married Sherry Buchholz on April 18, 1975.

He worked for Eramet for many years, retiring in 2004. James was the commander of the AMVETS Post 1788. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time at the river lot with family.

James will be deeply missed by his wife Sherry; his son James D. “Moose” Rhodes; grandchildren Jordan Rhodes and Darren Rhodes; step grandchildren Ashlee Haught Billy Richards, Tequila Casto and Trevor Casto; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Alan Doug Rhodes of Summerfield, FL; sisters Anita (Tony) Romeo of Youngstown, Teresa Capelli (Jamie Walsh) of Youngstown, and Cathy (Monty) Robertson of Greensboro, NC; stepmother Shirley Rhodes of Lisbon, OH and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas Rhodes.
