On Friday, May 29, 2020 around 8:00 pm, James “Jim” Edward Woodruff, 72, of Ashland, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jim was born April 19, 1948 in Zanesville, Ohio to Charles and Elizabeth {Jacobs} Woodruff.
Jim was known to his family and friends for his excellent work ethic, gentle sense of humor, and passion for the Ohio State University football. He never hesitated to be there for whoever needed him and was loved by everyone who knew him. Prior to retirement, he was employed at U-Brand for over 30 years. In his earlier years, Jim took joy in coaching his son Jason’s baseball team and being a Cub Scout leader. He loved watching animal shows and sports games, spending time with his family, and enjoyed the company of his granddaughters.
Jim will be deeply missed by his children Jason Woodruff and Sara (Mohsine) Bensaid both of Ashland; granddaughters Alliyah and Ameera; brother Robert Woodruff of Westerville; sisters Dorothy Harvey of Jefferson City, Tennessee; Freda Starkey of Zanesville; Mary (Mark) Shaner and Maxine (Greg) Cable both of Glouster; and ex-wife Ruth Woodruff of Ashland.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Paul Woodruff, sisters Helen Gordon, and Betty Dew, brother Charles “Chuck” Woodruff, and loving pet Keesha.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Roberts Funeral Home staff for their assistance and understanding. Special thanks also go to all passionate OhioHealth Mansfield B21 staff and Hospice professionals for their excellent care and tremendous support during his final days.
Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel with Greg Cable officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Jim would hope that memorial contributions will be made to the Ashland Community Credit Union at 1123 Sugarbush Dr, Ashland, OH 44805, in the name of Alliyah Bensaid and/or Ameera Bensaid College Funds.
