Jane “Jean” Burto (nee Kobella), 85, of Strongsville, loving widow of Winfield Copley Burto, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 with her niece Kim by her side.
Jean was born April 29, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Czechoslovakian immigrants, William and Frances (Knapko) Kobella. Abandoned by her parents at an early age, she grew up at the Christine Hortsmann Home for Girls. She met the love of her life, Winfield, following high school and they were married until his passing on December 12, 2015. Lost without Winfield, she became involved with the Salvation Army Senior Center on the west side of Cleveland where she was known as the “Betty Crocker” of the senior center as she always brought sweet treats to share with all of her friends. She was a fabulous cook and baker.
In March 2021, she moved to Generations Assisted Living in Strongsville where she continued to enjoy many trips and activities. Jean will be remembered for her contagious smile, wonderful sense of humor, love of dogs and her kindness to others.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Lafe and Doris Copley, Raymond Copley, Monroe and Denise Perry, Bob and Elaine Perry, Emaline Hagist, many nieces, nephews and friends. Everyone that knew her lovingly called her “Aunt Jean”.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 1pm at Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, 9560 Acme Rd Seville Ohio with Pastor Bud Olszewski officiating. Burial immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Winfield, and they will be, “Together Forever”.
