Janice Mae Corfman, 83, of Wooster, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Danbury Woods, in Wooster.
Friends may call Thursday, February 28, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Wooster United Methodist Church. Services will be Friday with music starting at 11:30 at the church with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Janice was born April 18, 1935 in Gerald, Ohio to Lamont and Virginia {Thomas} Krimmer.
Janice was a 1954 graduate of Newton Falls High School and 1974 graduate of Kent State University.
She married Charles W. Corfman on July 17, 1954 in Newton Falls, Ohio. He passed away on September 30, 2009
She was employed by Southeast Local Schools as a learning disabilities teacher, mostly teaching at Holmesville Elementary School, and was a substitute teacher at various local schools for many years after retiring. She was a member of Wooster United Methodist church for over 60 years where she was a faithful member of their adult choir and women’s circles.
Janice was active in the Lady’s Grand Army of the Republic, serving as National President from 1985-86, National Treasurer for 28 years, and Department President of Ohio in 1981-82. She was a charter member of the Robert Burns Brown Circle No. 103.
She was a member of Stepping Stones Mothers Club in Holmesville and an advisor for the Holmesville Diligent Daughters 4-H club, where she shared her talent and love for sewing.
Janice will be lovingly remembered by her children Pamela Smith of Orrville, Richard (Sue) Corfman of Orrville, David (Julie Shelton) Corfman of West Chester, and Dan (Fay) Corfman of Fremont; grandchildren Heather (Rallo) Eastwood, Joshua Fath, Christy Corfman, Philipp Corfman, Kyle Corfman, Erich Corfman, Amy Corfman; great-grandchildren Madison Renee Reising (Fath), Christopher Eastwood; brothers Ed Krimmer and Bill Krimmer; sisters Vivian Bonsall, Anita Beardsley, Ramona Zeck.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles W. Corfman, her parents Lamont and Virginia Krimmer, and sister Carol Corfman.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Danbury retirement community and LifeCare Hospice for their loving care of Janice.
