Jean Annabelle {Hudson} Brown, 82, passed away on Sunday morning, August 12th, 2018 at The Avenue At Wooster Care & Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health.
Jean was born January 30th, 1936 at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, OH to
Lester Coral and Verna May {Martin} Hudson of Big Prairie, OH. She was married
for 38 years to Douglas “Dean” Brown, until his death at age 59 on June 16th, 1993.
Jean was baptized in the Free United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Big Prairie High School’s Sentinel Class of 1954. She was a full-time homemaker until her children graduated school. Then she became a long-time employee of Buehler’s Food Markets in Wooster. She began working in the Deli, performed in-store demos, and then worked in the Seafood Department until her 2007 retirement, after 17 years of service.
She was known for her outstanding baking & cooking skills and it wasn’t a happy birthday, Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas without everyone’s favorite dishes made
by “Aunt Jean”. You would also hear your doorbell ring as she arrived with complete homemade meals following any birth, illness, or death. One of her favorite pastimes
was expressing her artistic abilities at her aunt Kathryn Hudson’s ceramic studio. She enjoyed her family, friends, pets, baking & cooking, shopping & gifting, Christmas, fashion, tanning, slot machines (“Elvis Double Diamond” singing slots were her favorite), league bowling, collecting, movies, music, home decorating, and gardening & landscaping. Jean was a Breast Cancer survivor of 26+ years.
She is survived by her children Robert Dean Brown of Omaha, NE, Deborah Lynne
Piatt of Marietta, OH, and Wendy Sue Brown of Wooster, OH; granddaughters Crosby Elise (James) Johnson, Kylie Danielle Piatt, Logan Taylor Piatt, and Britton Hunter Piatt; great-grandchildren Jerra Alexis Johnson, Brody Pierce Johnson, and Jiaunna Danae Piatt; brothers David Leroy (Mary) Hudson and James Lewis (Connie) Hudson; sister-in-law Judith Elaine Daye, and brothers-in-law Kenneth William Brown and Richard Allen Brown, as well as nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and twin brother, Jack Marvin Hudson. Jack died unexpectedly on January 29th, 1962 in the cardiac-recovery care unit at the Cleveland Clinic following open-heart surgery. Jack was age 25 and died just 1 day short of his & twin sister Jean’s 26th birthdays.
Per her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Online condolences may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, P.O. Box 761, Wooster, OH 44691 to assist with final expenses. The family would like to thank Wooster Community Hospital, West View Manor, LifeCare Hospice, and The Avenue for the compassionate care they provided.
