Jean D. Smith, 86, of Wooster, went to be with the Lord on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Wellington Place Assisted Living, in North Olmstead.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joshua Coffee officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or Tridia Hospice at 5000 Rockside Rd., Suite 150, Independence, OH 44131.
Jean was born March 14, 1928 in Rittman to Palmer A. and Thelma {Artrip} Copley.
She married Kenneth D. Smith on October 10, 1948. He died in 2003.
Jean worked at Lighting Rod Insurance for over 25 years. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church. Jean was a church pianist for over 20 years.
She also enjoyed singing with her family at local churches and in various church choirs/ensembles. Jean attended and served at Akron Baptist Temple and Wooster Baptist Temple for many years.
Jean will be deeply missed by her children Larry D. (Martha) Smith of Sylacauga, AL, Randall L. (Lisa) Smith of Franklin, TN and Connie Jean (Jerry) Dahlke of Olmsted Falls; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Joanne Hanna.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, of 54 years.
