Jeannie K. Gorgas, 60, of Ashland, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at her residence.
Jeannie was born March 14, 1955 in Ashland to Arthur and Ruby {Spencer} Gorgas.
She graduated from Ashland High School as valedictorian, she then went on to graduate from Miami University with a bachelor degree in Journalism.
Jeannie was previously employed at the Ashland Times Gazette and Mansfield News Journal. Jeannie was a member of the American Quilters Society. She loved anything that had to do with sewing and quilting.
Jeannie will be deeply missed by her brother Fredrick Gorgas of Ashland; sisters Deborah (Michael) Fite of Kenai, AK and Myreda (Richard) Johnson of Kettering; nephews Barry Jackenheimer of Mansfield and Timothy Buffmyer of Crookston, MN; nieces Kelly (Tim) Gray of Ashland and Sheryl Buffmyer of Ashland.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Ashland County Memorial Park with Pastor Michael Futrell officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland High School Journalism Department at Treasurer Office, ATTN: Melinda, 416 Arthur St., Ashland, OH 44805.
