Jim Benson

James Allen “Jim” Benson, 75, of Ashland, died Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Good Shepherd, in Ashland.

Jim was born June 25, 1947, in Atlanta, GA to J.T. and Evelyn Eloise {Gibson} Benson.

He married Rosalie {Stepp} Kiplinger on August 14, 1993.   

Jim worked at K-Mart in South Carolina for 25 and for Landoll in Ohio for 3 years before his retirement. He was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Assembly, where he was an usher/greeter and served on Council. Jim loved jigsaw puzzles and word searches. He was an avid sports fan, especially Clemson Football.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Rose; daughter Renee (Jim) Machin of Ashland; grandchildren Reaghan and Emma Machin; a brother John (Nancy) Benson of Pendleton, SC, nieces and nephews, and his mother-in-law Leola Stepp of Ashland.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Alfred Stepp Jr.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland.  A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev.
