Joan Workman

Joan Workman, 87, of Wooster, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Wooster Community Hospital.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Grace Church, 4599 Burbank Rd., Wooster.  Services will be Monday at 11:00 am at Grace Church with Pastor Steve Kern officiating.  Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.   Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling arrangements. Joan was born October 2, 1932 in Bladensburg, OH to Leslie and Grace {Harris} Biggs. She earned an RN degree from Mount Carmel College of Nursing.  She married David Workman on September 6, 1953.  He died in 2011.

She worked as a Registered Nurse in Mt. Vernon and Ashland; then was a homemaker raising her 6 sons. Joan was an active member of Grace Church, leading many women’s Bible studies, playing piano, singing in the choir, and serving in the children’s ministry, and was an instructor in the local Evangelism Explosion.  She was a charter Board member with the Pregnancy Care Center.  Joan enjoyed spending time keeping up with her friends in her neighborhood and with her “Lunch Bunch” ladies. Joan especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan will be deeply missed by her sons Mike (Sandy) Workman, Mark (Janice) Workman, Steve (Connie) Workman, Stuart (Jody) Workman, Jeff (Mary) Workman, and Jon (Charlene) Workman; grandchildren Kyle (Megan) Workman, Heidi (Ryan) Schlotterback, Chris Workman, Erin (Chad) Hofstetter, Kaley (Tyler) Egli, Aubrey (Aaron) Spurlock, Kristen (Greg) Stutzman, Rachel (Jason) Egli, Emily (John) Fox, Nathan (Kinsey) and Jacob Workman, Kendra (Drew) Schoonmaker, Derek and Brianna Workman, Adalyn and Luke Workman; 16 great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband David, great granddaughter Peyton Grace, and brothers Carroll and Donovan Biggs.
