Joan Zimmer

Joan Letha {Carpenter} Zimmer, 89, was reunited with her loving husband Richard on the seventh of April two thousand nineteen after her stay at Arcadia Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born the eleventh of August nineteen twenty-nine to the late Merle and Reva Carpenter in Marietta, Ohio.

Joan graduated from Marietta High School in nineteen forty-seven. She worked at Washington County Landmark until she married Richard E. Zimmer on the twenty-seventh of November nineteen forty-eight.

Joan was a member of the Barlow VFD Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Decatur Chapel Church and a 4-H advisor for several years. She enjoyed time with family, gardening, crocheting and Christian music.

She is survived by her daughter Sandy (John) Hiener and Dan (Carol) Zimmer, all of Vincent, OH; six grandchildren Ben (Kristie) Hiener of Daniels, WV, Nathan (Carolyn) Hiener of Marietta, OH, Danielle Zimmer of Worthington, OH, Matthew (Brook) Hiener of Marietta, OH, Rusty (Abby) Zimmer and Kenny (Shayna) Zimmer all of Vincent, OH. Eleven great grandchildren; Liam, Lila & Luke Hiener of Daniels, WV, Madison, Gavin, Connor & Colton Hiener of Marietta, OH, Graycen, Asher, Alayna, Paxton & Baby Zimmer of Vincent, OH. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Wilson and Janice (Eugene) Haught and sisters-in-law Bonnie Carpenter, Edna Berg abd Betty Duff, plus many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Zimmer, brother C. Thomas Carpenter, brothers-in-law Henry Berg, Paul Zimmer, Ray Wilson and sister-in-law Betty Zimmer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April tenth from 4 to 8 PM at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7,Marietta 45750. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Hastings officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery.
