John R. Armstrong, 87, of Wooster, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 am at Grace Church with Pastor Robert D Fetterhoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements. John was born December 9, 1926 in Wooster, Ohio to Raymond and Marjorie {Houmard} Armstrong.
John married Gloria Ann Walters on October 30, 1948 at First Brethren Church in Rittman. She survives. He served in the U.S. Army following the Korean War.
John was a self employed farmer and meat processor. John was a member of the Wooster Grace Church for 67 years. He served as trustee for 30 years for Grace College and Theological Seminary.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Gloria; children Dan (Jayne) Armstrong of Shreve and David Armstrong of Wadsworth; granddaughter Tiffany Armstrong; brother Dick (Annabel) Armstrong of Wooster; sister Betty (Lloyd) Ulrich of Wooster.
John was so grateful for the love and prayers by friends and family and for the loving care provided by LifeCare Hospice.
