John W. Brenneman, 78, of Wooster, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wooster Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating. Burial will be at East Union Cemetery. John was born January 21, 1935 in Orrville, Ohio to Roy and Mabel {Snyder} Brenneman.
He graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1953.
He married Ila J. Heiser in 1953. She died in 2009.
He retired from Wooster City Schools where he worked for 23 years. He served with Youth For Christ in Dover as the Director from 1963 to 1965. John was an active member of the Wooster Grace Brethren Church. He taught in the children's department, was on the board, and served faithfully as an usher for many years. John also worked part time on the maintenance staff. He was an active member of Gideons International.
John will be deeply missed by his son Greg (Beth) of Wooster, grandchildren Stephanie and Daniel Brenneman of Wooster; sisters Charlotte (Leroy) Cornelius, Arlene McHenry both of Wooster, nieces and nephews, and close friend Shirley Pahoundis.
John was preceded in death by his wife Ila, parents, and brother Carl Brenneman.
