John Philip Christy, 88, of Marietta, died Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Marietta Center.
John was born August 15, 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio to Howard Paul and Mary Edith {Redman} Christy.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he moved to Marietta in 1948. He attended Kenyon College and Marietta College.
John married Frances (Bell) on October 14, 1950.
He worked in road construction his entire life, retiring from Shelly and Sands in 1992. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the American Legion Post 64.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Frances; children Susan Huppert of Escandido, CA and Scott Christy of Columbus, OH ; three grandchildren; sister Marilyn Schafer of Marietta; special friend Sandy Lamm; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and by his infant son John Steven.
Memorial service will be Friday, March 18th at 2 P.M at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 SR 7, Marietta, where the family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
