John R. Festge, 73, of Ashland, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, in Cleveland.
John was born June 16, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jack and Josephine {Zoelle} Festge.
John served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.
He married Barbara Ignatowski in July of 1965 and she passed away on October 3, 2001. John then married Catherine Dilgard on October 21, 2006.
John graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in business management. He retired from the Wall Street Journal after 15 years and was a recruiter for the U.S. Air Force. John was a member of Polk Church of Christ. He was a member of Eagles #2178. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his family and drinking beer.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Catherine of ten years; children Don (Mindy) Festge of North Miami, FL, Dean Festge of Delaware, Julie Cool of West Virginia, Kim Summerton and Tammy Ward both of Ashland; grandchildren Quinn, Riane, Sloan, Cody, Raven, Zoe, Aaron, Adam, Mindy, Josh, Dana and Makayla; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Joy (Dave) Woelfel of Wisconsin.
John was preceded in death by his wife Barb, sons-in-law Marty Ward and Lee Cool.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Polk Church of Christ. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
