John P. Long, 85, of Ashland, died May 24, 2015 at Hospice of North Central Ohio, in Ashland, Ohio.
John was born July3, 1929 in Ashland, Ohio to John and Florence {Behrends} Long.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Jacqueline Lougeay on December 17, 1965.
John worked at Abbott Labs as a maintenance plumber for 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star.
John will be deeply missed by his wife Jacqueline; children Anne Hershey, Jamie Hootman, Roberta Long, Vicky Conley, Ruth Rofe, Michael Long and Matt Long; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother Donald Long and sister Iris Markel.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his son John and brother Albert.
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Schaefer officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland Ohio 44805.
