John P. Sousa, 75, of Ashland passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. John was born January 29, 1938 in Juneau, Alaska to Michael and Ella (Fillo), Sousa. He served in the United States Army during Peace Time. John married Marcella Short on October 24, 1980 who survives. He was an employee of the Ford Motor Company for 31 years, retiring in 2000. John was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, American Legion Post 88, and the VFW. In addition to spending time with his family, John's favorite pastime included turkey shoots and traveling all over the country. In addition to his wife, Marcella, John will be deeply missed by his children Deborah (Michael) Maynard, of Lower Salem; Ashley Coleman of Ashland, and step children Ralph (Sharon) Coleman, of Tupper Plains; Trena Coan of Elyria; Sonya (Ronald) Kuttler, Pamela Peters; and Marcella Marie Coleman all of Ashland; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Boyle; grandson Donald Kuttler; and son-in-law, Dave Coan.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland, with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held. Friends may call Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 pm. at the funeral home.
