Joseph Edward Emanuel, 54, of Ashland, passed on June 25, 2023 at University Health Samaritan Hospital.
Joseph was born March 9, 1969 in Ashland, Ohio to Joseph and Anne {Meade} Emanuel. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe was a graduate of Hillsdale High School, Class of 1987, before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science from Ashland University Mathematics in 1991 and additional studies in computer sciences in 1993 with a Certification, Secondary Education (Grades 7-12).
Joe held many hats over his life with substitute bus driving and substitute teaching with his full-time job being an entrepreneur for Emanuel Software which offered math education for high school students.
He was a member of the Hayesville Methodist Church and in his early years participated in the Lion’s Club Annual Follies. During college Joe was active in the Ashland University music program including marching band, orchestra and was a member of the honorary band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. He had a passion for meteorology from a young age inspired by local weather man Dick Goddard with multiple trips to the Vermillion Wooley Bear festival.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his close friend Thomas Lloyd. He is survived by his brother John (Kathy) Emanuel of Mansfield; and sister Beth Emanuel (niece Maggie) of Ashland. Aunt Ellen Davis and cousins James (Amanda, Hayley, and Hunter) Bittinger; Michael Bittinger; Scott Davis; Aaron (Melissa); Brett (Crystal)Davis; Jerry (Michelle) Davis; James Davis (Jaclyn); and Jason (Jenny) Davis.
John and Beth would also like to thank those in his life who provided assistance to him: Paul Kauffman and Sherry Burford.
Friends may attend a Celebration of Life gathering for Joe from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mifflin Community Center on Saturday, July 8th. His ashes will be interned at the Hayesville Cemetery at a later date. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hayesville-Vermillion Fire Department for all they did for him.
