Joseph (Joe) Alexander Hulme age 83, of 4932B Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079 passed away Monday, July 8th, 2013 at Kindred Transitional Care, located in Monroe, NC, after a long battle with Cancer.
Joe was a life-long resident of Ashland, Ohio area, until two years ago when he and his wife "Jean" moved to be closer to their son Tom Hulme, daughter-in-law Melinda and their two sons Leland and Will.
Born in Ashland 9 April 1930, Joseph spent most of his youth growing up in Savanah, Ohio until his parents Lawrence and Gwen Hulme bought a hose on Troy Road. Joe and his wife Doris "Jean" (Barnes) Hulme were married on April 20th, 1953.
Joe spent four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Japan as part of the US Occupation Army of Japan. Joe is a Past Commander of American legion Post 88, Harry Higgins Post, Ashland, Ohio. Joe also was a member of Elks Lodge 1360 for many years.
He is survived by his wife Jean, son Tom his wife Melinda, grand-daughter Erica, grand-sons Leland and Will (of North Carolina), son Joseph, his wife Robby, grand-daughter Natash, great grand-daughter Janice, great grand-son Bill (of California), brother Richard Hulme of Colorado and sister Grace Haaf of Florida.
Visiting hours and viewing will be Friday 12 July at Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland from 6 to 8 pm. Grave side Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Saturday July 13th at Ashland Memorial Park.
