Joseph Takacs

Joseph "Joe" Alexander Takacs, 80, of Wooster, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at West View Mannor, in Wooster, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at 3 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 1 to 3 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Joe was born April 19, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to Joe and Elizabeth {Teibel} Takacs.
He married Mary E. (Schneider) Bowser on June 6, 1987.
Joe graduated from the University of Akron with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace in Akron and was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Akron Community Technical College. Joe attended Westhill Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers, Browns and Indians. Joe loved traveling in his Roadtrek Motorhome. He was President of the Roadtrek International Club for 3 years. Joe enjoyed spending time with his beloved dachshund, Abby.
Joe will be deeply missed by his wife of 26 years, Mary; former wives, Valeeta Shifflett and Katherine Fina; son, Joseph A. (Dana) Takacs of Oviedo, FL; daughters, Julie (Mark) Bergstedt of Westerville and Joni (Ed) Burns of Akron; grandchildren, Alexandria, Joe III, Sydni and Aaron Takacs all of Oviedo, FL, Shauna (Colby) Zachrich of Galena, Eddie Burns Jr. of Temecula, CA, Jenna (Brandon) Brown of Akron, and Justin Burns of Akron; great-grandchildren Cayden and Reagan Zachrich, and Hylan Brown; sisters, Betty deViveiros of Grass Valley, CA, Rose Wright of Menlo Park, CA, step-children; Mary (Lee) Spencer and Grant (Stacey) Bowser both of Wooster; step-grandchildren, David (Erika) Spencer of Cabot, AK, Samantha and Nicholas Spencer of Wooster, Jenna Bowser (fiancé Christian Raber) of Wooster; step-great grandson, Bryson Spencer.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patricia Stevenson and former wife Jewell Vorhes.
