Saturday, March 22, 2014 a band of angels with a chariot came down and took Joyce to the Lord. She was at the home of her son, Mark, with her husband, Joe by her side. She was born June 27, 1941 to Philip and Minnie (Garman) Porr of Marshallville.
Surviving are the love of her life, her husband Joe, son Mark Irvin of Creston, granddaughters Rachel and Anna of Washington State, Rebekah in the U.S. Navy, and Eliese of Creston, sister Sally (Larry) Monroe of Kentucky, brother Brian (Jane) Porr of Kentucky and Loren (Nancy) Porr of Maine, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son John David Irvin.
Joyce delivered Daily Record papers for many years in Marshallville. She graduated with the class of 1959 at Smithville where she was in the band and served as a treasurer for that class for many years. Joyce graduated from Aultman School of Nursing, receiving her R.N. degree. She worked at Wayne General Hospital in Orrville, helping deliver babies with Dr. Kirk and Dr. Kropt. She later became Director of Nursing at the old Rittman Mennonite Home. Joyce finished her career and retired from Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville. She was a member of Paradise Church of the Brethren. Joyce taught Sunday school, where she was a children's storyteller using the book, Bird Life of Wingdon. She also served as Deacon alongside her husband. Joyce was a treasurer for the North Ohio Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship and with her husband, operated the Brethren Press Book sales at District Conference for many years. She had many friends in her Bible study group. Joyce was the treasurer for the late Georgetown Homemaker Club. She was the first acquisition chairperson when the Smithville Community Historical Society was formed in 1990. Joyce was also co-chairperson with her husband and Paul and Anne Locher when they started the Antiques Competition at the Wayne County Fair in 1990.

Services will be held at Paradise Church of The Brethren on Sunday April 6, 2014 at 1:30 P.M.
A special thanks to LifeCare Hospice and her caregivers, Amanda Dowdle of the church, Shelly Gordon and Charlene Belgarde of Creston. A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date. Roberts Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
