Julia “Judy” Lombardo, 96, of Ashland, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at The Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Judy was born April 14, 1922 in Curwensville, PA to Louis and Mabel {Bellone} Balocco.
She graduated from Curwensville High School. Judy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was stationed in Washington, D.C.
Judy married Adelky “George” Lombardo on October 18, 1947. He passed away January 19, 1997.
Prior to her marriage, Judy was a general store owner in Curwensville, and later a sales associate for JL Hudson in Detroit. Later in life, she had a home daycare in Galion and Ashland for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. Judy enjoyed reading, quilting and knitting.
Judy will be deeply missed by her daughter Cynthia Lombardo (Thomas Hoadley) of Richfield, OH, and her niece Susan Rizzo of Munroe Falls, OH. She is also survived by a granddaughter in Ashland, OH, and a grandson in MI. Other relatives for whom she held great affection include her nieces and nephew, and their families.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, son Larry “Lum” Lombardo, brother John Balocco and sister Chris Meyer.
Services will be Monday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland with Rev. Doug Olsen officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
