Katherine (Kay) R. Friday, 90, of Whitehouse, OH, formerly of Medina, OH, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was born July 1, 1922 in Stillwater, MN to John and Roselle (Cogwin) Haas and married Kurt Friday on February 1, 1946. Katherine received her Bachelors degree at the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy in 1944 and was employed at many pharmacies in Medina and Summit counties before retiring in 1991. She attended St. Francis Catholic Church and belonged to both a bowling and golf league. She enjoyed sewing and won prizes at Medina County Fair for her cake decorating. She had held the position of Chairperson of the Montville Zoning Commission for 20 years where she was honored for her service in 2005 and she belonged to AAUW, League of Women Voters and Medina County Farm Council.
Katherine will be deeply missed by her children Karen (Bruce) Bongar of Redwood City, CA, Kendra Friday of Seattle, WA, Kaleen (aka Kelly) of Dayton, OH, Kurt (Dorothy) Friday of Pickering, OH, Karl (Barbara) of Larkspur, CA, Kim (Robert) Anderson of Whitehouse, OH and Kevin (Amy) Friday of Akron, OH, grandchildren Kurt III, Katie, Jocelyn, Katherine, Rob, Scott, Mara and Eric, and great grandchildren Valentina and Angelo. Her husband Kurt, infant daughter Mary Katherine and sister Joan Boog preceded her in death.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 260 Broad Street, and Wadsworth on Saturday, September 22 at 10:00 A.M. following her burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Seville.
