Katie Miller, 92, of Westfield, IN, died Saturday, February 6, at her home with her family by her side. She previously resided in Wooster, OH, and Sarasota, FL, but she forever had a love for the Florida weather.
Katie was born April 7, 1928 in Fredericksburg, OH to Dan and Dena {Mast} Yoder. She married Willis Miller on January 24, 1950. They were married for 71 years and enjoyed many years of traveling, spending time with family and laughter together.
Katie brought love, feistiness and a touch of elegance to everywhere she went. She retired from Macy’s at the age of 80 after 18 years of employment. She was also a homemaker who raised her two daughters. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Sarasota, FL, and enjoyed making ceramics, crafts, “Yoder Night” with her siblings, and spending time with her family.
Katie will be deeply missed by her husband, Willis; daughters Karen (Jerry) Oyer formerly of Wooster now of Colorado Springs, CO and Valarie (Matt) Welty of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Christopher (Megan Pluff) Oyer, Kendra Oyer, Lauren (Joel) Wright, and Morgan (John) Kinney; great-grandchildren Sofia, Asher, Micah, Sawyer, and Esteban; brother Ray Yoder and sister Betty Yoder both of Sarasota, FL. Katie was preceded in death by a brother Elmer and sister Sylvia, as well as her parents.
