Lawrence Joel (Larry) Falb, 72, of Lafayette, IN left this world for everlasting life on September 12, 2012 at Creasy Springs, Legacy Unit in Lafayette.
The family will receive friends at Soller-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette on Saturday, September 15, 2:00-4:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at Roberts Funeral Home in Wooster, Ohio with burial in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation hours at Roberts Funeral Home are 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Southern Care Hospice or the charity of their choice in Larry's memory.
Larry was born in Orrville, Ohio June 17, 1940, son of the late Mylon Falb and Saloma (Smucker) Falb. On July 3, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Julia (Judy) Bogner in Smithville, OH and she survives.
Larry was a graduate of Smithville High School, Class of 1958 and Bluffton College, Class of 1967. Larry began his career in purchasing at Bluffton College and then Triplett Corporation, both in Bluffton, OH. He then worked for Sparton Electronics in Jackson, MI and later in DeLeon Springs, FL. In 1989, he went to work for Landis & Gyr in Lafayette and retired in 2005.
Larry was a Certified Purchasing Manager and served as an officer in the National Association of Purchasing Management for many years. He was also a member and served as an officer in the Lion's Club.
Larry was an active member of the United Methodist church, serving as choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Certified Lay Speaker, and many other positions through his dedicated years of service. Larry loved speaking about his Lord and Savior and was most recently a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
His interests were camping, NASCAR, gardening, collecting toy tractors and miniature cars, remodeling, and making or fixing things in his workshop, "Grandpa's Place." He was the family pie baker and his creations will surely be missed at family gatherings. He enjoyed the companionship of his faithful dog, Suzy and his cat Sunshine and was his happiest when enjoying time with his immediate and extended family. Family was so important to him.
Surviving are two dearly loved daughters of whom he was so proud, Lisa (Doug) Bauer of Acworth, GA. and Julie (Brian) Belanger of Coldwater, MI. Larry is also survived by five grandchildren, Sarah (Peter) Kozloff, Paul Bauer, Ryan Belanger, Joel Bauer, and Abraham (Sarah) Belanger; two great grandchildren, Logan Belanger and Elanor Kozloff and three sisters Ruth (Rex) Wagers, Lorene (Gordon) Amstutz and Lois (Lynn) Newcomer. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Mylon Falb, mother, Saloma (Smucker) Falb, brother, Marion Falb and sister, Lucille (Elvin) Mast.
