Lillian {Cooley} Collier, 91, of Wooster, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be held at the Washington Ave. Christian Church in Elyria at a later date. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Friday at 11:15 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lillian was born at home, August 25, 1925 in Elyria, Ohio to Seymour L. and Gladys {Palmer} Cooley.
She graduated from Clearview High School in 1943. She attended Elyria Business School. Lillian was voted the healthiest 4-H girl in Lorain County at age 14.
She married James F. Collier on April 21, 1944. He passed away on March 20, 2013.
She was an agent for Ohio BMV, worked for Elyria Lorain Abstract Company, and JC Penney Company. She was a life elder at the Washington Ave. Christian Church where she served in various activities and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Wooster. Lillian was a volunteer Naturalist for the Lorain County MetroParks and especially enjoyed teaching the Junior Naturalist about the natural world. She and Jim enjoyed gardening and preserving the fruits and vegetables from their garden was often a family affair. She loved to travel with her husband, visiting various countries with many close friends. Lillian and her sister Ruth traveled to Alaska in 1989 assisting in the cleanup of the Exxon Valdez.
Lillian will be deeply missed by her children Shannon (LeRoy) Foster, Thomas P. Collier, Nancy (Allen) Collier all of Wooster and John W. Collier of Amherst; grandchildren Damian J. (Kari) Staron, Christopher J. (Kashmira) Staron, Adriann J. (R. Brad) Mitchell; great-grandchildren Ian P., Jacob C., Ava E., Addison R. Staron, Cora A. Fortune, Hallie J. and Mylie Q. Mitchell and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was preceded in death by her brothers Clyde M. Cooley and Roy S. Cooley, sister Ruth {Cooley} Barchfeld.
