On Sunday afternoon August 28, 2022, Linda departed her earthly body, " ...Absent from the body to be present with the Lord." (2Cor. 5:8). Born November 9, 1939, on Kate's Hill, Beaver Dam, Kentucky to parents Cecil and Leva {Beasley} Clark. A short time after she was born, they moved to Ohio, and eventually resided in Shreve. Linda graduated in 1957 from Shreve High School. In early 1959 she met Bob Mitchell, and they were married by Linda's cousin, Pastor Charles Abney, on November 8, 1959.
On November 14 ,1971, they started attending Nold Avenue Baptist Church in Wooster. That was the day Linda trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. This began a string of events that caused all her family to be exposed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Linda touched hundreds of lives over the next 51 years. Linda was a homemaker and enjoyed her flower gardens. Linda developed a passion for seashells which was stimulated by her friendship with two internationally known seashell authors: Peter Dance of England and Harlan (Jeannie) Wittkopf from Iowa. Linda shared Harlan’s book "Alphie the Alphabet Shell” with her grandchildren over the years. Linda loved spending time with family and friends on Sanibel's beaches for the past 45 years searching for seashells. Her friends from the island even tried to get her to teach her shelling techniques. Three generations of her family have followed this passion. On their 50th wedding anniversary, Linda found her prize shell, a Junonia, on the beaches of Sanibel which landed her picture in the local paper.
Linda will be deeply missed by her husband, Bob; children Kimberly (David) Zifzal, Teri (Steve) Hochstetler, Troy (Patty) Mitchell and Melissa (Joe) DuPlaga; grandchildren Ryan (Kim) Hochstetler, Ashley (Jason) Kinnebrew, Amber (Eric) Farley, Zach (Erica) Zifzal, Kayla Sprowls and Bo Wenger (Deceased); step grandchildren Chloe and Lane DuPlaga; great-grandchildren Parker and Sydney Hochstetler, Cohen, Beckham, and Stella Kinnebrew, Landon Nofsinger, Oliver and Ila Sprowls, Emma, Zaden and Clay Zifzal, Obadiah and Oakley Farley. Linda was preceded in death by sisters Wilma Jarvis, Virginia Edwards, Betty Daugherty, and brothers Wendel Clark and David P. Clark.
