Lloyd John Yerkie

Lloyd John Yerkie, age 102, of Seville, Ohio died Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Lodi Hospital.

Lloyd was born February 1, 1921 in Trout Creek, Ontario, Canada to Edward and Susan {Whitehead} Yerkie.

Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 417^th Squadron.

Following the war, he married his penpal from Detroit, Betty Jane Wolfslayer on March 9, 1946. She survives.

He worked for the Chrysler Corportation in Highland Park, MI for over 30 years. Lloyd was a member of the Detroit Sportsman’s Congress, and was a Mason. He loved hiking, travelling, spending time outdoors, going to the beaches at Ft. Myers and Carabelle, Florida and wintering in Mesa, Arizona where he enjoyed offroading with his Jeep in the back country. He and Betty had many adventures together over their 78 years of marriage.

Lloyd will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty; children Ken Yerkie of Seville, Ohio, Jerry (Janet) Yerkie of Sullivan, Ohio, and Cheryl Yerkie of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Mark Iwanski, Rick Iwanski, Zachary Yerkie; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Pearl, Clarence, Gladys, and Hilda.
