Lyle "Pete" Dale Howman, 82, of West Salem, died February 23, 2013 at Wooster Community Hospital, in Wooster. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel with Rev. Robert Holmes officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Lyle was born November 28, 1930 in Congress, OH to Earl and Fay {Lindsey} Howman. He married Betty Yvonne Ritter on September 24, 1950. She survives. Lyle and Betty shared 62 years of marriage.
Lyle was a farmer his entire life. He retired in 1992. He also worked in the logging industry and hauled milk.
Lyle enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing cards. He liked riding horses. He loved spending time with his friends, family and dog Babe.
Lyle will be deeply missed by his wife Betty; children Michael (Dagmar) Howman of Seville, OH, Barbara Lincoln of Lansing, MI, Jeffry Howman of Smithfield, RI, Irene Knapp of Lorain, OH: grandchildren Stephanie Davis and Patrick Howman, Samuel Lincoln, Justin Howman and Amanda Cordle, Heather Page, Kymmiko and Kaomi Knapp and 3 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild; brother Weldon (Marian) Howman of Wooster, OH; sisters Opal Peacock of West Salem, OH, Wanda Glasgo of Smithville, OH and Donna (Roy) Flickinger of Wooster, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Donald and Larry Howman and sisters Doris Durrstein, Hilda Bonnell and two stillborn sisters, and a very good friend Richard Zimmerman.
