Margaret L. Youngen Hochstetler, 94, of Rittman, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the Autumnwood Nursing Home, following a period of declining health. She was born in Ragersville, Ohio on May 20, 1923. Margaret was the daughter of the late Abraham E. and Veda M. (Tidrick) Youngen.
Margaret’s schooling began at Ragersville Elementary, and she graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in June, 1943. She married Forrest (Frosty) Hochstetler of Walnut Creek on June 12, 1943 in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Ed Shepfer officiating. They were married for 68 years until Forrest’s passing on September 18, 2011.
Margaret lived in Rittman, Ohio for over 70 years. She along with Forrest, worked at PCA, formerly the Ohio Box Board Company, until they retired in the 1980’s. She attended the First Baptist Church in Rittman.
Margaret enjoyed collecting Carnival Glass and other antiques, making beautiful needlepoint creations, bowling, participating at the Hartsville Flea Market, and she had a special endearment for cats.
Margaret will be lovingly missed by her sister Wilda Marsh of Maumee, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers Warner (Avanell) Youngen, Franklin Youngen, Clyde (Evelyn) Toland; her sisters Annabelle (Ernest) Waggnor and Alice Causey
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Autumnwood and Compassionate Care Hospice for the care and love they showed Margaret during her stay.
Friends may call Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 at the funeral home with Chaplain Tom Hile officiating.
