Marguerite Aline Kauffman, 81, of Berlin, died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Akron City Hospital, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Pastor Bruce Breudigam officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Marguerite was born April 28, 1938 in Spiez, Switzerland to John and Lili {Mueller} Dauwalder.
She graduated from Berlin High School in 1956. In high school she was a state qualifier in 4-H Club.
She married the love of her life, Lester Gene Kauffman on April 28, 1961. He passed on December 18, 1978.
Marguerite retired from Wayne County National Bank after 35 years as a loan officer and assistant branch manager. After her retirement, she loved helping in the family’s bakery. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mount Hope, where she was active in Ladies Aide. Marguerite enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flower beds. She was very proud of and loved telling stories about her Swiss heritage. Marguerite was a devoted mother and proud grandmother.
Marguerite will be deeply missed by her sons Richard and Steve Kauffman both of Berlin, and Fritz (Shelly) Kauffman of Smithville; grandchildren Justin and Trent Kauffman of Smithville; brother Peter (Nancy) Dauwalder of Berlin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband.
