Marilyn J. Hurst, 83, of Wooster, went home peacefully to be in the presence of the Lord Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Wooster Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Friends may call Monday from 6-7 pm at the Northview Alliance Church, 3464 Burbank Rd., Wooster. A Memorial service will follow at 7 pm at the church with Pastor Geno Colarusso officiating.
A private interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

She was born April 1, 1931 in Lowell, Ohio to Addison Earl and Bertha Mae {Newlen}Shafer.
She married Leslie Glenn Hurst, her beloved and cherished husband of 62 years, on February 3, 1951 in Adario, Ohio. He died October 21, 2013.
Marilyn was a homemaker who dearly loved her family. She and her husband operated the Hurst Foster Home for many years. She was a member of Northview Alliance Church in Wooster and enjoyed playing golf, traveling, spending time at their cabin in Apple Valley, and attending Mother's Club. She truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends each and every holiday.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Robin (Earl) Jentes, Sharon (Chris) Hughes, Teresa Hurst, Beth (Jerry) Zimmerman all of Wooster; grandchildren, Brent, Brian, Evan, Darren, Laura, Lindsay, Jeremiah and Alicia; and great-grandchildren Brianna, Emma, and Jamison.
In addition to her parents and husband, Glenn, she is preceded in death by siblings Earl Shafer and Lee Bott. Marilyn will be greatly missed.
