Her mother unexpectedly passed away in 1934 and her father later married Pearl Porter in 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepmother, and sister, Esther.
While living in Missouri, Martha was dedicated to her Ruth Sunday School class with Claycomo Baptist Church and volunteered many hours helping the church. She was a den mother several years and was a proud recipient of the Bicentennial Merit Badge in 1976. She was a loving and doting grandmother to her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Martha was a 29-year season ticket holder of the Kansas City Chiefs football team and her love of the Chiefs was second only to her Lord and family.
