Martha I. Stine, 84, of Ashland, died April 14, 2015 at Brethren Care Village.
Martha was born October 19, 1930 in Ashland to Pearley Jeriah and Bertha Mabel {Humphrey} Johnson. She was the youngest of nine children.
Martha was a graduate of the class of 1948 from Ashland High School. She started working at the office in The Eagle Rubber Company.
She married Harold E. Stine on March 25, 1950 and they shared 36 years together before he died on September 19, 1986.
Martha took several years off to be a housewife and raise a family before returning to work, first at Ashland High School cafeteria and then Business Consultants.
In 1969, she started her career at The Faultless Rubber Company "Abbott Labs" working in accounts payable, receivable, payroll and financial analysis. She retired from Abbott Labs in June 1994 after 25 years.
Martha grew up on a farm and worked hard all her life instilling that strong work ethic in her family. She lived by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
She was a former member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church and later at First Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess and on the bereavement committee.
Martha was known for her good cooking, especially her brownies, pies and chicken sandwiches she made for the St. Ed's Baseball team-for the Eddies dances!
She took great pride in her family and enjoyed family reunions with her siblings and their families as well as Harold's family. She loved to babysit her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. When her family went on vacations she loved to "dog sit' the miniature schnauzers (Trixie, Dancer, Pepper and Molly).
Martha will be deeply missed by children Bonnie L. (Ronald) Weaver of Ashland, Stan L. (Marilyn) Stine of Westerville and Larry S. Stine of Ashland; grandchildren Wendy L.
