Mary M. Broadnax, 81, went home to be with the Lord, Monday January 7, 2013 at her residence.
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 at the church with Reverend Ricky Brown Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
Mary was born September 3, 1931 in Autaugaville, Al to Curtis and Lula Bell {Motley} Lee.
She received her BA from Alabama State University.
She married Johnie Broadnax on July 6, 1957, he survives.
She moved from Alabama to Wayne County in 1959. Mary was a teacher at Apple Creek Devlopmental Center and an active member of the Second Baptist Church for many years where she was a deaconess. Mary loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and had many close friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and reading her bible.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband; children Kenneth, Anthony, and nephew Tony Lee; grandchildren Aaron, Steven; brothers Billy C. Lee; sisters Myrtle Paisley, Carolyn Butler, Aggie Bethel, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Curtis Lee Jr.
