Mary Taibi

Mary L. Taibi was an extraordinary woman. She passed away at 101 years of age on Friday, January 20, 2017 with her family at her side at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster. Mary was born November 6, 1915 in Passaic, New Jersey to Loreto and Vincenza (Mistretta) Insinna. After graduating high school, Mary attended St. Joseph's Nursing School, graduating in 1938. She married Frank Taibi, Jr. on January 20, 1940. In 1977 he preceded her in death, and their great love was reunited when she passed away the day of their 77th anniversary. Mary will be deeply missed by her children Robert (Pat) Taibi of Wooster, OH and Douglas (Mary Jo Oxrieder) Taibi of Freeland, WA, and her 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Known as "Oma Mary" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a beloved family matriarch. She possessed a fierce spirit of independence and a boundless generosity that inspired and brought joy to all that knew her. Her acerbic wit only sharpened with age, and she was as wise as her laugh was infectious. In her retirement, her truest loves were gardening, birdwatching, cooking, and spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors.
