Maurice L. Bretthauer of Wooster, went to be with his Lord March 19, 2017, his 94th birthday, at Brenn-Field Nursing Home, in Orrville.
Services will be Thursday at 5:30 pm at the Church of the Cross UMC with Rev. Kristen Patt officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 3:30 pm until the service at 5:30 pm, and following the service in the fellowship hall. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling arrangements. Burial will be Friday at 12:30 pm at Floral Grove in West Unity, Ohio, with a meal following at West Unity UMC. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Cross UMC, 5100 Cleveland Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
Maurice was born March 19, 1923 in West Unity, Ohio to Glenn and Esther {Miller} Bretthauer.
He married Virginia Beilharz on July 16, 1944. She survives.
Maurice was a dairy farmer, branch manager for Farm Credit Services, and Williams County Commissioner. He was a member of the Church of the Cross UMC where he sang in the choir. Maurice was a member of Lions Club, barbershop chorus, and enjoyed searching for ice cream shops.
Maurice will be deeply missed by his wife, Virginia; daughter Janet (Ronald) Borton of Wooster; grandchildren Jim (Sherri) Borton of Wooster, Tim (Jody) Borton of Swanton, OH, Janene (Eric) Graber of Carthage, TN, Harold (Julia) Swain of Ashland; great-grandchildren Riley, Evan, and Hudson Graber, Alex, Arianna, Hannah May, Luke, Zeke, Jack, Adrienne, Ezra, Roman, Vinny, and Ike Borton, Emma, Carlie, Megan, and Ty Swain; sister Carol (Vernon) Sloan of Stryker, OH, a nephew and many nieces.
