Maxine C. Ferrell, 94, of Wooster, died December 26, 2014 at , Wooster Community Hospital.

Friends may call Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Mauldin officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Garden. Maxine was born July 29, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Vivian {Baughman} Fross. She married Harold J. Ferrell on April 23, 1940.
Maxine spent her early years of marriage as a housewife and mother. Beginning in the late 1940's, she owned and operated the Guerne Farm Market with her husband and later worked at Montgomery Ward in Wooster. Maxine was a member and Sunday school teacher of the St. Peter's Evangelical and Reform Church in Apple Creek until she and her family moved to California in 1963. In California, she worked with Harold in their coffee shop and other businesses throughout the years. Maxine and Harold returned to Wooster to be near their children and grandchildren in 1979.

Maxine was an avid reader, gardner, Scrabble champ, and crossword puzzle extraordinaire. She had been a great seamstress, providing many doll clothes for her children and great-grandchildren over the years. She will always be remembered for her incredible home cooking, baking and her willingness to open her home and heart to anyone in need: family, friends, or strangers.

Maxine will be deeply missed by her five children, Jack (Cheryl) Ferrell; Carol (William) Smith; Shirley Ferrell; Steve (Sharon) Ferrell; and Greg (Sherry)Ferrell; grandchildren, Brian Ferrell, Stacy Pedrozo, Eric Smith, Kelly Murdock, Kristen Conrad, Sean Ferrell, Matthew Smith, Heather Gerke, April Jenson, Sarah Glasener-Boles, Jason Ferrell, and Alicia Ferrell; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five siblings, and granddaughter Monique Ferrell Pauley; and great granddaughter Eva Ferrell.
