Michael "Mike" Eugene Howard, 60, of Marietta, passed away at his residence Friday, June 5, 2015 after a long illness.
Mike was born in Middletown, Ohio on December 13, 1954 to Otis Cleo Lee and Barbara Lou (nee Specht) Howard.
Following his highschool graduation, Mike spent his life employed in the construction trades. He began his career in the US Army as a Motor Transport Operator (Diesel Mechanic) and was honorably discharged in May of 1975. Mike began working for Marietta-based PROMANCO in 1986 as a specialist in historic renovations and stayed with the company until his retirement.
Mike had a renown passion and gift for restoring and showing antique tractors and hit-and-miss engines. In recent years he began competing in local tractor pulls. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Garden Tractor Puller's Association of Lower Salem. Mike leaves behind many friends who knew him to be loyal and devoted.
The friends and family want to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kelli Cawley, who compassionately cared for Mike during his illness.
Mike is survived by his children Michael E. Howard, Jr. and Alisha Ritter; sister Becky Sestak; brother Steve (Joy); grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Noah and MacKayleh. His parents preceded him in death.
Friends and family may call Wednesday, June 10 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 27880 SR 7, Marietta, OH 45750.
