Michael Edward West

Michael Edward West, 67, of Howard OH, went to heaven to be with the Lord peacefully, Wednesday February 22nd, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. 

Mike was born January 30, 1956, in Columbus OH, to Clarence Alton and Mary Terese {Recktenwaldt} West.  Mike married Deanna Lynn (Bowling) on February 19th, 1983.  

He worked at Holophane in Utica OH, Ariel Corp, in Mount Vernon, Walmart in Mount Vernon. In addition, he loved to paint houses and businesses from his own business.  There was nothing he couldn’t do or learn how to do.  He helped many people in need out of the goodness of his heart.  He worked as a volunteer firefighter for many years.  He had been a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, but was also non-denominational. He wrote and recorded Christian songs and music. He could play several instruments and taught his children how to play as well.  He loved to coach various sports and kept involved in his children’s lives.  He loved to play guitar, hunt and fish.  He taught his children how to work on cars and paint houses, barns etc.  Some still work in that business today.  He devoted his entire life to his family and extended family.  He was a selfless person.  

Mike will be deeply missed by his wife; children Shonna T. (Tim Hammond) West, Clint R. (Bridget) West, Justin S. (Brandi) West, Brittney M. West; grandchildren Brock, Felicity, Haley, Roger, Aubrey, Tia, Tyler, Summer; great-grandchildren Laney, Serenity; his mother of Groveport OH and brothers Mark, Matthew (Diane), Patrick (Brenda).
Mike was preceded in death by his father, brother Joseph West, sisters Mary Bennett, Kathy Beard, Theresa Davis, Jennifer Werth.  

A graveside service will be held Saturday February 25th at 1 pm at the Homer Cemetery 1450 County Hwy 19/ Homer Rd NW, Homer OH.  A Celebration of Life service will be held across the street at 1:30 pm at the Homer Fire Department 1491 Homer Rd NW, Homer OH 43027.   Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
