Nancy Joan Kauffman, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Danbury Woods in Wooster.
Ruth and Davy Lytle welcomed Nancy into the world on April 1, 1932. She was one of eight children. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glenn Lytle, and her sisters Bea Graber and Marilyn Krug. She is survived by her sisters Ellen Keith, Joyce Grimes and Clara Donley and brother, Norman Lytle.
Nancy was a graduate of the class of 1950 at Smithville High School. She married LaVerle D. Kauffman on July 22, 1952. He preceded her in death January 10, 2001. They had built their home on a dairy farm in the Wooster area where they raised their four children; Mike(Catherine) Kauffman of Wooster, Jeff(Nancy) Kauffman of Wooster, Sandy(Jim) Carpenter of New Philadelphia and LeeAnn(Bernie) Caldwell of Wooster.
Among her many earthly roles, Nancy instilled in her children a hard work ethic, love for the Lord, and a giving heart. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a compassionate and devoted friend. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She walked with the Lord daily and resonated the light of Jesus everywhere she went.
Nancy made great harmony singing with her three sisters under the name of “The Singing Grandmothers”, faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship where she grew in her faith, directed choir and was a devoted Sunday School teacher at Smithville United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. Many would remember her participation in productions of HO-HUM at the church.
She had worked at Roy F. Martin Ford Dealership, First National Bank as a branch manager and supported her husband on the dairy farm.
Nancy will leave a legacy that will be built upon by many who have been touched by her life.
