Patricia Irene Gallo, 86, of Wooster, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, in Fort Myers, Fla.
Private family burial service is being arranged. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster, is assisting the family.
She was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Youngstown, to William and Irene Woods, and was raised in Wooster by her mother and stepfather, Ernie Palus.
Pat was a 1946 graduate of Wooster High School, and was employed at The Daily Record, was a secretary at Wooster Township School and was secretary-treasurer of Gallo & Sons Inc. She married Wido Paul Gallo on Jan. 29, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wooster. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Pat and Wido had three daughters, Kathleen Gallo (Chuck Malta), Deborah Malta and Nancy Baxter; grandchildren, Bryan and Halle Gallo-Malta, of Wooster, Michael and Dominic Malta of Charlotte, N.C., Shanna Baxter of Springfield and Cassandra Baxter of Chicago, Ill.; step-grandchildren Todd Malta of Burbank, Calif., and Matt Malta of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, William Palus of Wooster; and a nephew, Jeff Palus of Tennessee.
Pat was active in several community service organizations, such as Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary, Wooster Emblem Club, Wooster Elks Lodge, and also served as a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid golfer participating in several golf leagues, enjoyed reading, playing bridge with friends, and spending time with family. She followed Ohio sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
She and her husband enjoyed living in Fort Myers, Fla., in the winters for over 20 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church of Wooster; or LifeCare Hospice, Wooster.
