Paul Elmer Carpenter, 81, of Wooster, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Aultman Hospital, in Canton.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, where military rites will be held. Paul was born August 29, 1936 in Portsmouth to Wade and Louise {Dials} Carpenter.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Peace Time.
He married Josephine Ann Dalessandro on March 22, 1958.
He worked at Babcock and Wilcox as a machinist and inspector, and family owned Mama D's Pizza until his retirement in 1996.
Paul loved fishing, being outdoors, walking in the woods with his dogs, and watching wildlife, especially hummingbirds. He watched wrestling, NASCAR, and was a fan of the Raiders. Paul also loved a good ole' Western movie and war films. He was his family's strength, and a dedicated father, grandpa and great grandpa.
Paul will be deeply missed by his children Pamela J. Schmidt and Vincent P. Carpenter; former daughters-in-law Mechelle Carpenter and Wanda Hebb; grandchildren Jason Kennedy, Treva (Robert) Inman, Josephine (Nathan) Bailey, Luciano Carpenter, Mylea Carpenter, Thomas, Bradford and Makayla Hebb; great-grandchildren Na'Shon Inman, Damian "DJ" Schmidt, Madyson and Miles Kennedy, Gavin Arthur, Urijah and Selah Bailey, Roseanne Hebb; brothers Don (Jeannie) Carpenter and Roger (Patty) Carpenter; sister-in-law Sandy; former sisters-in-law Sandy and Carol; many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, son Lorenzo J. Carpenter, grandsons William Michael Schmidt and Robert Travis Schmidt, brothers Ralph, David, and Francis Carpenter, and niece Tina Carpenter.
